The Story behind the Doodlo Design!

Story behind the Doodlo Design!

Here is the Story behind Doodlo Design!

I began planning Doodlo Design sometime around November 2018.

Little did I know that these Design things would take off, and I would find myself with a full-fledged brand that now creates Branding, Comic stationery, and more all under the name of Doodlo Design.

So, in case you’re wondering what’s the story behind the doodlo design or who is the person behind those little doodles and characters? You are going to find out. So, bear with me for the long blog post coming your way. Here’s to you!

I was a September-born curly-haired toddler; little did I know the love for colors and paints. I loved drawing on every piece of paper I could find. The newspaper pictures are the ones I started replicating as a kid when I was 4. By then I had this fascination with paper cutting those images and kept them in my school textbooks and whenever I got time I began drawing. Once, I caught drawing my teacher’s sketch at the back of the history textbook. From then I got recognized as the girl who draws a teacher’s sketch. Funny it was!

We belong to a family where pencils are enough for drawing, I had very little knowledge what is the difference between colored pencils, crayons, watercolors, and poster colors until by drawing exams for Intermediate Drawing entrance level 2.

That was the prep to my craziness and making a mess around the home with paper cuttings. I used to draw every actor, and politician picture that came in the newspaper. So, I could say the newspaper was the one who taught me how to draw. I was very quiet as a child, satisfied with drawing and doodling in my textbooks. Watching cartoons and drawing is my whole world as a kid.

Growing up, I spent a lot of time sketching. This time I could make exact replicas of the portraits, the early left eye doesn’t match up to the right. Now I am confident that I can draw Shahrukh Khan, or any other actor similar. Every time I got pocket money, I used to buy a new drawing book and a box of Apsara pencils. Nostalgic!

So, I had pasted all my good portraits all over the walls of my house, I feel good when people used to say your girl is good at it. All of it helps to boost my confidence and draw more.

As we all know, in normal Indian homes having board exams is havoc all over. Yes, boards happen and I am left doodling anymore. Becoming an engineer or doctor then a big proud moment for parents and they are taught if choose any different stream their kid will be no longer worthy to have a good life. Yes, after all, the arguments, I attempted the PMT and SEEE entrance exams and scored better but I also attempted the CET exam to enter the College of Fine Arts. Got selected in CET and got a college in Pune. The day I entered Pune is all different life for me living my dream of learning in design school.

I managed to work on illustrations and enjoyed the process of learning, new process new people and friends made my college days memorable and bliss.

Four years of graduation passed by. As an enthusiastic human, I started my working life with one of the best start-ups in the field. After 4+ years of working as a Designer, and illustrator I ventured out and began to talk to people about what if I worked as a freelancer and then had my studio. The idea had a knack for some people, some of them say it’s a big risk to start at this stage of life where you just began to save some penny.

I tried a few projects in 2018. After 4-5 months I decided to start under one banner name where I don’t exactly remember the date. But we built the Doodlo design Brand name with a logo identity.

That’s how my Artprenuership started. Yes, I have come a long way.

Worked with many beautiful people, start-ups, and organizations.

After a whole year of building logos and creating websites, I found my niche in doodling. With the help of fellow designers and interns, we have worked on amazing projects. This is a new chapter in our lives, I think I have to write a different blog post for it altogether.

Now as we are growing, we have come up with a new idea to design some comic and doodle products. We are already in the process of working on the Doodlo Comics along with Doodlo Design Studio.

I’ve realized one thing – if you are truly passionate about something, you can make it work. You can make it a business and you can live off of your passion.

For comic content and fun doodles, we started @doodlocomics,
